You have never read a tale like this one in the past

and
you may never in the future.

La Famiglia

Vito "William" Palese

Ray Lombard's grandfather; Vito "William" Palese in the late 1920's.  Vito changed his name to William at an early age to try and assimilate in to American society. He felt it would give him a better opportunity to be successful and capture his share of the American dream.

Mary Auletto Palese

My Grandmother Mary Auletto Palese. Like a good Christian woman she bore eight children. This photo was taken a bit earlier then the above photo of Vito.

Manny Palese

Manny in the snow

Manny plays in the snow at a very early age. Note, he has on no shoes. Nothing seemed to bother him and he always tried to amuse everyone with his antics, especially Mary.

Manny on a Sunday

Manny showing off his Sunday best. Going to church, no doubt...

Manny with a few sisters and cousins on the Atlantic City Beach. Manny always seemed to draw a crowd of young ladies... even if they were his family.

Later in his life, Atlantic City would play an even larger role in his life and it would have nothing to do with the beach.

Manny at his brother Rocco's wedding. Manny is standing third from the right.

Left: Manny in a photo taken at  his friend "Chizz" Sanders wedding in 1937.

Right: Manny in a photo taken at  his brother Rocco's wedding in 1938.

Note the facial differences in the two photos, taken only about a year apart. Maturity or the pressures of his fast-paced lifestyle could be the contributing factors.

Through our research, we were unable to obtain a photo of Frankie, Manny's cousin. Inseparable, they were indeed More Like Brothers than cousins.
